Chris Miller and Sircely at Finnriver

Visit the Finnriver website for details

Visit Finnriver on Sunday, February 26th to see and hear the music of Chris Miller (saxophone/banjo) and Matt Sircely (mandolins/guitars). For years, they have taught, cooked, danced and performed together at Blackpot Camp in South Louisiana. They even recorded one of Sircely’s songs in a legendary local studio. Now, Chris Miller lives nearby in Jefferson County and the two are joining forces for their first duo performance in recorded history.

Chris Miller plays a smooth and sweet clawhammer banjo, yet in the broader world he’s known as a saxophonist providing “the glue” in the famed Revelers band from Louisiana. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Chris has traveled the continent with the Revelers, his fiery tone and swamp pop sensibilities resonating at major festivals and events in North America and Europe.

Matt Sircely plays a variety of mandolins and guitars, and he writes original songs in many styles. Best known for his work as a founding member of Hot Club Sandwich, a Django-inspired ensemble in Seattle, and a leading acoustic jazz band in the US for more than a decade, Sircely started as a songwriter and has since created an ever-broadening catalog of original material. Sircely’s musical tapestries tap into the histories behind the songs, and his interests span the worlds of folk and fiddle music, classic blues and country, vintage swing and bluegrass and roots music from around the world.

A $5 cover charge is collected 30 minutes before music starts.
